The wholesale debt market segment of the National Stock Exchange witnessed lacklustre trading with deals worth Rs 132.25 crore being struck yesterday. With call rates ruling between 4 and 5 per cent, trading remained concentrated in the short- and the medium-term securities.

The 13.50 per cent central government security maturing in 1997 saw deals to the tune of Rs 20 crore. These deals, which are to be settled the same day, were done at Rs 102.93.

These transactions were concluded at 10.67 per cent yields. The 13.50 per cent central government security maturing in 1998 saw deals for Rs 5 crore struck at 11.66 per cent yields. These deals, which are to be settled the same day, were concluded at Rs 102.97.

Among the medium-term securities which saw active trading were the 12 per cent gilt maturing in 1999, the 13.40 per cent gilt maturing in 1999 and the 13.65 per cent gilt maturing in 1999.

The 13.40 per cent gilt maturing in 1999 witnessed a deal for Rs 10 crore struck at Rs 101.62.

This deal is to be settled after one day and was concluded at 12.89 per cent yields.

The 13.70 per cent gilt maturing in 1999 also saw deals for Rs 10 crore struck at 12.61 per cent yields. These deals are to be settled the same day.
