Hockey World Cup Day 8 Live Score: Quarterfinal teams and Cross-Over lineup decided

Courtesy of the last group games, the lineup for the cross-overs has been finalised. In the first cross-over, Malaysia will play Spain on 22nd January. On the same day, India will face New Zealand in a 7 pm start with both games taking place at the Kalinga International Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneshwar. 

At the same venue, the two other cross-over games will also be played on January 23rd with Argentina facing Korea and Germany facing France in the 04:30 pm and 07:00 pm IST starts respectively.

Belgium would top this group courtesy of a better goal difference and move straight into the quarterfinals. The German team, after scoring quick goals, got too excited and thought that they could get three goals in the last seven minutes. But in the end, it became difficult for them to score quick goals and as a result, it is almost not possible for them to score the three goals and they would end up playing the cross-over instead of qualifying for the quarterfinal.

The first half ended and Germany which started very well by scoring in the first minute of the first half ended up scoring only one more and conceded as well to have only one goal lead. They need to get 8 more goals and not allow Korea to score if they are to get into the quarterfinal directly.

The Belgium team scored seven goals against Japan and none of them came through a penalty corner. There were six field goals and one goal through a penalty stroke. The one goal that Japan managed to get was also a field one. 

In total there were eight penalty corners earned, six by Belgium and two by Japan but none of them were converted.

In the day games of Group A, France surprised all by playing a draw against 2016 Olympics Gold medalist Argentina. It was very amusing given that France were beaten 8-0 by Australia and Argentina led Australia 3-2 for the most part of the game before settling for a 3-3 draw. 

In another game, Australia thrashed South Africa 9-2 and sent the African nation out of the medal reckoning.
