Automated Workflow Pvt Ltd, the Bangalore-based provider of business process management (BPM) solutions, announced its merger with the US-based Silicon Plains Technologies Inc (SPT), a leading name in enterprise content management (ECM).

The combined entity has emerged as the largest global IBM business partner in the BPM and ECM space.

"We have signed an agreement with SPT. The details of the merged entity, such as the equity pattern and the name of the new company are being worked out in a couple of months," said Sunil Savara, executive chairman and director - quantum growth, Automated Workflow Group.

The entity will further expand its product offerings and venture into newer markets in Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin American countries. In Asia, the company aims to focus on India, Thailand and Philippines, he said.

The merged entity will have a revenue of $10 million by March 2006. It plans to touch the $80 million mark by 2009. While Silicon Plains has achieved $5.5 million revenues in 2004, Automated Workflow posted $1 million last year, and hopes to end the present fiscal at $2.5 million, Savara said.

"We have found the perfect business partner in Silicon Plains. The merger will give us an opportunity to enter the US market. The growth strategy includes developing around 20 strategic alliances across the globe with each alliance bringing a revenue of $20,000 for enrollment along with a commitment of $1 million in products," he said.

At present, Automated Workflow has 78 professionals at its product development centre in Bangalore, which will be increased to 180 by March 2006.

DotSphere, a key product offering of the group, accelerates the implementation of complete BPM solutions with full content and records management that can be highly customised in a rapid manner without custom development.

With pre-built domain modules for insurance, banking and accounts payables, it can significantly reduce the time of implementation, risk and costs, said Greg McCormick, CEO, Silicon Plains Technology Inc.
