"As of now the focus has been more on the product engineering side. But in addition to generic product testing, we are trying to get into some of these special domains like game testing, wireless and storage system testings. The idea is to move away from generic and manual kind of testing to offer more and more value-added testing services," said Govindarajan V R, chief technology officer (CTO), Aztecsoft Limited.
The company has also announced investments to develop domain expertise in these technologies.
To enhance its expertise in the wireless testing domain, Aztecsoft is also looking at an acquisition. The company started working in the wireless domain almost one-and-a-half years back.
"This has grown very well and now we have a team of about 150 engineers to address both the wireless product engineering and testing sides. We are looking at an acquisition primarily to accelerate that growth," Govindarajan added.
Looking at the inflow of customers who are interested to work with the company both for software development and testing, Aztecsoft is "planning to make testing more vertical aligned to cater to the domains we are focused on. So testing will grow along the line of the organisation growth," he said.
The independent testing practices within Aztecsoft started in 2004, when the company acquired Pune-based Disha Technologies in 2004, paying $12 million. Disha, which had a team of 350 engineers, has grown significantly within Aztecsoft to constitute an independent testing division with a team of about 800 engineers.
At present, 35 per cent of Aztecsoft's topline comes from independent testing. "Testing is a high growth area for us and we will keep on investing a lot to develop expertise in more value-added testing services in the future," he added.
Govindrajan said the acquisition of Disha was an extremely successful one since not a single employee at the senior level had left the company after the acquisition. The testing division in Pune focuses on independent testing while the company has a dedicated team of engineers in Bangalore and Hyderabad to work in alignment with the company's software development wing.
"The idea is to provide identical services to our clients from all these three places. If any customer wants development services from any of these centres, then testing services will also be offered from the same centre," Govindrajan said.
The Pune centre, which mainly started as a testing shop, has of late started participating in some development projects too.
