Chinese smartphone maker One Plus, which is launching its OnePlus 2 handset on Monday, has announced it will continue to use the invite system for buying the product on its official website.

The company has confirmed that the primary few invitations for the OnePlus 2 were currently prepared. “Invites are still a necessity” but this time the company is promising a reservation list, more inventory and a “quicker rollout of shareable invites,” according to an Indian Express report.

The first couple of OnePlus 2 invites will be given to the earliest supporters, forum members, and early OnePlus buyers. The company will also organise contests and/or promotions to help other users procure invites.

There is a reservation list and users will have to sign up with their email accounts to be effectively put into a queue and notified when an invite is available. However, everyone on the list will eventually receive an invite, the company has assured.

OnePlus has said the OnePlus 2 might take up to three weeks to be shipped and the invites are only valid for 24 hours. To share invites, a user will get one to two weeks and the number of shared invites that can be sent out will initially be low; it will increase as production is ramped up. “The more you share, the more invites you get,” OnePlus has said.

There will be physical invite cards, such as the photo shows, but OnePlus hasn’t explained how these will be distributed.

Priced under $450, OnePlus 2 will come with 4 GB LPDDR4, 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor and a Type C-USB port, which supports various new USB standards like USB 3.1, USB power delivery (USB PD), HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA with adapters. The company says Qualcomm has fixed the heating issue on Snapdragon 810 SoC for the OnePlus 2 smartphone. It has also said that the new smartphone will have a 3300mAh battery.
