City-based electronics and Internet technologies start-up, Bizz Group, launched BizzBook, which it claims to be the first eight-inch tablet PC in the Indian market, on Monday.
The tablet, which comes in two models – BizzBook 3G that comes with in-built 3G and BizzBook 1i that comes without internal 3G but can support external 3G dongles. Both the models have the same specifications like the Android 2.3 operating system, 1.2 GHz Telechips processor, 32GB expandable memory, and 3 mega pixel front camera. They are priced at Rs 18,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.
Nidhin Rao Polsani, chief executive of Bizz Group, told mediapersons here that the company was initially launching the tablet in Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, New Delhi and Mumbai with 1,000 pieces to start with. BizzBook is being produced in China and the company intends to manufacture it in Hyderabad in one year from now, he added.
“We are in the process of approaching the APIIC for 20 acre at Fab City on the city outskirts and the manufacturing plant will be ready in the next one year, with a capacity of 5,000 units per month,” Polsani said, adding the company would invest Rs 10 crore in the plant, to be raised through a mix of internal accruals and debt.
