During our recent hunt for some funny and witty websites, we stumbled upon www.phat-phish.com and it turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise. Websites, we believe, are serious business where big companies put up their project reports and annual gross income graphs. But internet can be a fun place too and makers of Phat-Phish seem to belong to the same school of thought.

The entire site welcomes you with a very Indian theme that makes a splash of colours, complete with Warli art (an art form of the ancient tribe called Warli settled in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra) figures that are used quite predominantly. The Art work has a quaint resemblance to what is usually seen at the back of our trucks. You wouldn’t want to skip the colourful and captivating welcome screen. Graphic elements used all across are very user friendly, but what stands out is an informal looking font all over the site, giving a unique look to every page element.

The site informs us how the Phat-Phish founders started off as ad film makers and branched out into making records and motion pictures too. Their website claims they have worked with some very big brands and launched some famous artists as well. A casual and direct approach makes you want to go through all their links.

In fact, the ‘Work For Us’ link is quite an eyeful, as it clearly tells users to be informal and ‘themselves’ with the organisation. The founders have clearly highlighted the fact that they do not wish to receive any formal resumes. In fact anybody wanting to express his or her creativity can write to them freely. Another feature, which is still under construction, is the option to submit your work. In effect, if you want to showcase some of your creativity, you don’t need to wait for their response, instead post it directly on to Phat-Phish website.

You can spend some time viewing the 20-odd adverts that the company has worked on. If you thought Paresh Rawal in the Dominos Pizza ad was hilarious, then you could spend a few minutes laughing all over again. There seems to be no time lag in video streaming and that’s a good thing for users with dawdling internet connections.

The founders seem to be taking their time in putting out all the features online. The ‘Coming Soon’ messages would flash one too many times on your screen. The links to their work on films did not seem to work on our systems. The page where Phat-Phish foundation and its beliefs are put out seems incomplete.

Although it mentions their concern for the environment and humanity and gives out a message of a cause, the goals and ideas (if any) are still not clearly mentioned. And that we will have to wait for. For now its just fun and an outlet to your artistic side.
