DSK Infotech, Chinese firm plan JV

Chinese electronics major TCL and Pune-based DSK Infotech will form a joint venture to assemble and market in India a range of notebook and desktop computers of the former.
 
Worldman Technology Company Ltd, a subsidiary of TCL incorporated to carry out business in India for the IT and digital products, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with DSK Infotech Pvt Ltd to undertake the assembling operations of its laptops and desktops in Pune.
 
DSK Infotech is part of the real estate major DSK Group and is engaged in the operations of IT education and software development.
 
It is a regional distributor of TCL for its IT and digital products.
 
A press communication from DSK Infotech said a new joint venture company, DSK Worldman Technology Private Limited, would be floated to undertake the assembling operations, national distribution, sales and service for the range of TCL's IT and Digital Products.
 
DSK Infotech will be making the initial investments to set up the requisite infrastructure. Worldman will make available the domain expertise, technical knowhow to set up the assembly unit and brand name along with its existing sales and service network spread across 26 locations in India.
 
The assembly unit is likely to be operational by mid 2007, Umesh Tashildar, director and CEO, DSK Infotech Pvt Ltd, stated in the release.
 
In the second year, assembly operations for TCL's other products like digital cameras, mobile phones, MP3/MP4 players and electronic accessories are also on the cards, the release said.
