To meet the exponential demand for service-oriented architecture (SOA)-based solutions, GalaxE.Solutions, a player involved in developing and implementing high performance applications, plans to expand its presence in India by making it the hub of its global operations.

SOA is an emerging technology which integrates applications based on multiple platforms at different locations which can be made to work together and share resources, thus cutting down on the clients' need to invest in exclusive platforms.

The New York-headquartered company, which has development centres in Somerset NJ, Toronto and Bangalore, will raise its global headcount from 300 to 500 over the next 12 months. As part of the expansion plan, the company will raise its Indian headcount at its four facilities in Bangalore to 300 from around 125.

"We are happy to expand our India operations. There is no doubt that India will be the hub of IT activity, and we look forward to a 100 per cent growth in headcount in the years to come." Suresh Pande, vice president (India Operations), GalaxE.Solutions told media on Tuesday.

According to the company, 70 per cent of the company's development of this next-generation IT architecture will be done from India.

"The Bangalore delivery centre will focus on end-to-end SOA solutions for Fortune 500 companies to deploy enterprise-shared services and will comprise a business-oriented technical team," said Timothy Bryan, chairman and CEO of GalaxE.Solutions.

He said that CIOs of global corporations were increasingly adopting SOA as a means to address scaleability, integration, security and performance issues with the existing systems. Independent verification and validation is a mandatory key first step for successfully leveraging SOA for existing systems.

"Application of GalaxE's IV&V process provides a complete strategy, roadmap and a phased approach to achieving an SOA-based system," he added.

According to an estimate by Yankee Group, of a sample of 473 decision makers, nearly three-fourth have planned to invest in SOA, starting from 2005.

Bryan said that with niche skills and a successful track record in IV&V and SOA engagements, GalaxE was uniquely positioned in this fast growing market segment.

GalaxE has a client base of world class organisations including Pfizer Global Manufacturing, Medco Health Solutions, Liberty Mutual, Coach Leatherware and Ford Foundation.
