LG CNS Global, a 100 per cent subsidiary of LG CNS, the $1.4 billion IT services company of the LG Group, has announced the setting up of its Indian development centre in Bangalore.

LG CNS will be kickstarting this operation with a Rs 10 crore investment and 130 developers. This software development unit will focus on third party customers and will not be a captive unit for LG Electronics, which is being catered by LG Software India.

Announcing this, Byung Chul Jung, president & CEO, LG CNS said: "The Indian operations is chartered to be an engineering centre of excellence that would offer specialised services for enterprises outside the LG Group's portfolio, focussing on European and North American markets. We plan to have 800 developers by 2009 and expect to have revenues of $30 million in that time frame."

The company is also planning to set up a small BPO outfit which will focus on voice-based services. In the first phase of its operations, the Bangalore centre will provide product re-engineering, system integration, application development, system management and enterprise focus services for overseas clients.
