Lumia series the smartest in our line up: Nokia India

Nokia India, a subsidiary of Microsoft Mobiles Oy, launched its latest smartphone, Nokia XL, in the affordable category

Nokia India today said the Lumia series was the best-of-class smartphones it had delivered till date.

Even as it has launched its latest Windows OS-based device XL, Nokia believes the affordable segment handset category is a feeder system to the Lumia series.

“For us, Lumia is the best of everything in terms of highest, fastest and biggest smartphone experience in our offerings,” said Raghuvesh Sarup, director of sales, Nokia India.

For those who prefer to get the best of Windows and Microsoft, Lumia continues to be the pick, he added.

Nokia India, a subsidiary of Microsoft Mobiles Oy, today  launched its latest smartphone, Nokia XL, in the affordable category. The 5-inch display device, powered by Nokia X software platform, which is Windows OS, comes with 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core processor, and has an optimal random access memory of 768 MB and 4GB eMMC (latest version of multimedia card). The company is describing XL as a fast lane to android applications.

The device has customised android applications settings for user privacy while using many of the social networking tools, GPS-powered 3-dimensional ‘Maps’ which function without internet; Mix Radio, a resource of multi-lingual collection of music, and a considerable third-party application resource. The handset is priced at Rs 11,489. It is offering 10GB of sky drive storage for free with the device.   

Sarup expects tremendous demand for handsets in the affordable category. For Nokia India, the affordable range falls in the price band of Rs 8,000-12,000.  On its long-term strategy, he said the prime focus of Nokia-Microsoft continued to be the Windows operating system.

Nokia India has upped the ante in the smartphone range as it has the ranks of Lumia, XL, X and the low-cost India-focused Asha. “All the four models are equally important for Microsoft as they were for Nokia,” said Sarup.
