It is probably the next level in the evolution of pre-recruitment assessment. MeriTrac is to set up a chain of integrated recruitment centres, said to be the first such effort in the country.

The first such centre, a 50-seater, will come up in Hyderabad. It will provide testing and processing services for most corporate needs.

The centre will be capable of administering a suite of over 150 tests using OnTrac "" MeriTrac's online test delivery software.

The centre will have online/offline test rooms, rooms for interview and group discussion, among other facilities. The centre will be open seven days a week and, 12 hours a day and will be operated by a team from MeriTrac, an assessment player in India.

Companies can use the facility for their recruitments.

In the first such funding in the Indian services space, HSBC Private Equity Technology, a Hong Kong-based venture fund, has pumped in $3.8 million (Rs 16.5 crore) into Meritrac Services. This has helped MeriTrac plan its expansion. MeriTrac is all set to expand into the major cities across the country.

The next two targets of MeriTrac for setting up the centres are Chennai and Mumbai. It will set up a centre in Kolkata, which, says Madan Padaki, co-founder and director, MeriTrac Services, "Will open the doors to the North-East."
