The much-talked about second sequel to Motorola's best selling budget smartphone, Moto G 3rd Generation, has finally arrived. Here are our first impressions:

When you hold this one for the time, you are almost surprised by how light and sleek Moto G 3rd Gen is. The 5-inch smartphone has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and enhancement of the display. The company claims the device is water resistant, but we have not tested that feature yet. The display is rich. The images appear sharp and touch experience is smooth.

SPECIFICATIONS
  • Price: Rs 12,999 (for 16GB)
  • Display: 5-inch (720 x 1280p)
  • Processor: Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410
  • OS: Android 5.1
  • Battery: 2,470mAh
  • RAM: 2GB (for 16GB version)
  • Storage: 16GB, expandable up to 32GB

The Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 is powerful backed by 2GB RAM (for the 16GB variant, which we reviewed) runs most of the applications smoothly. The stock Android 5.1 offers a clean user interface.

Moto G 3rd Gen camera has witnessed major improvement over its predecessors. We managed to click some sharp images with the 13MP camera. It's performance in low-light was not bad either. The 5MP front camera, however, was just about okay.

The 2,470 mAH battery survived about 11 hours on regular usage.

Overall, at Rs 12,999, Moto G 3rd Gen is an impressive device that can emerge to be a winner in the segment. Watch this space for a detailed review.
