A multi-purpose Technology Park is proposed to be developed along the busy Lucknow-Kanpur highway.
The proposed 'Fortuna-Awadh Technology Park' would comprise IT Park, Biotech Park and Electronics Manufacturing clusters as its main components.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was recently signed between Awadh Technology Park (ATP) and Conceptual Builders in the presence of UP chief secretary Alok Ranjan here.
"The proposed industrial Park would span about 50 acres under the Lucknow Industrial Development Authority (LIDA) jurisdiction," ATP Director Dileep Kumar told Business Standard.
He informed the company would directly negotiate with farmers and landowners to procure the required land for the project, which would take 4-5 years to materialise.
"Our stakeholders are settled far and wide including Bangalore and Singapore and we would finalise our future strategy after due consultations with them," he informed. The Technology Park would start inviting IT, biotech and electronics companies to set up their units once the basic infrastructure is in place.
Earlier, LIDA had also proposed to set up a 25 acre IT Park in 2011. However, it has failed to take off despite several attempts. The IT Park was proposed to be located in the vicinity of Lucknow Airport and LIDA had even started seeking applications from IT and IT Enabled Services (ITeS) companies for taking plots.
Proposed in 2005 as counter-magnet to Noida and Greater Noida, LIDA was conceptualised to boost industrialisation in this part of UP.
