Nippon Audiotronix, a leading player in the in-car electronics segment, expects to set up its second manufacturing unit either in Delhi, Pune or Chennai. The company expects to invest about Rs 25 crore on this initiative.

Nippon Audiotronix is the Indian partner of Kenwood Corporation Japan which supplies car audios to Maruti Udyog Ltd, Hyundai Motor India Ltd, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, General Motors India, Tata Motors and Hindustan Motors Ltd.

In a press statement, K S Giondi, managing director, Nippon Audiotronix, said that with the growing demand for car audios, the company expects to double its production capacity to 24,000 car stereos by adding a new manufacturing unit. Currently, it manufactures from its Noida plant.

Nippon Audiotronix has launched an in-vehicle navigation device called 'Nippon SatGuide' priced at Rs 37, 990 in Chennai. The instrument, which is a handheld device, can be used for the purpose of navigation. It uses global positioning systems (GPS) technology for tracking any place.

The company has developed this touch-screen navigation device in association with the Hyderabad-based software company, SatNav Technologies.

Dinakar Devireddy, deputy general manager, Satnav Technology, said this navigation system would guide to the driver on the best possible route based on the destination. The required destination address needs to be entered in the control unit. The device displays a map on the screen and the driver just has to follow the instructions of the Nippon SatGuide to reach the destination.

Even if the driver takes a wrong turn, the system asks him to take a 'U' turn if possible or guide him through an alternative route.

The device will help the driver spot locations like Tidel Park in Taramani, Kilpauk Medical college, Gandhi Park in Tambaram, Vijaya Studio in Vadapalani including other public utility, emergency services like hospitals, entertainment locations and important landmarks on the route.

Nippon SatGuide can also be used to watch movies or listen to songs.

Apart from car audios, the company also manufactures electronic car security and alarm systems for OEM segments.
