The National Institute of Technology-Karnataka and IBM signed two MoUs recently for academic and research collaboration.
 
The two MoUs were initiated by the computer-engineering department of NITK and IBM, Bangalore.
 
According to the first MoU, NITK -- IBM CAS (Centre for Advanced Studies) will develop technologies and capabilities of common interest and engage in collaborative research.
 
This is not restricted to the areas of automatic computing, grid computing, deep computing, life sciences, databases and web services. IBM will support NITK students and faculty to do their research in the said areas.
 
The second MoU is to outline a strategic understanding between the corporate and the institution to work together to create an 'IBM Open Power Systems Laboratory' for students and faculty of NITK, which will be the first of its kind in the country.
 
The MoUs were signed between Sandeep Sancheti, NITK director, Amol Mahamuni, programme director, University Relations (IBM) and Harish K Grama, vice-president of IBM India.
