Reliance Info plans big for Karnataka

The company's 80,000 km of terabit optic cable network forms the backbone of its countrywide expansion and will facilitate unlimited and uninterrupted voice, data and video applications.
 
This operation, touching nearly 65 crore Indians will cover nearly two-third of its villages and over 5,700 cities and towns. This expansion involving 8,500 BTS (base transceiver station) towers will also cover 91 per cent of the country's National Highways and 85 per cent of all the rail routes.
 
As part of its phase II network expansion in Karnataka which has a scope of covering 300 towns, Reliance India Mobile services are now available in 200 towns (inclusive of 47 phase I towns) of Karnataka.
 
The phase II expansion due to be completed soon will entail coverage of 300 towns, 5,860 villages and over two crore people. This initiative will significantly address the communication needs of Dakshina Kannada.
 
This development will significantly contribute to the socio-economic development of the coastal region, according to Vinay Singh, CEO, Reliance Infocomm, Karnataka Circle.
 
Around 20 handsets of different varieties and features are available to customers with prepaid connectivity from a price range of Rs 1,999 upto Rs 10,000.
 
Reliance Infocomm launched its commercial services in May 2003 and currently has 6.68 lakh subscribers in Karnataka and has over one crore subscribers across the country.
