Sasken PAT jumps 71%

Sasken Communication Technologies, on a consolidated basis, posted a PAT (profit after tax) of Rs 11.87 crore in the third quarter ended December 2006, a jump of about 71 per cent over a profit before exceptional item of Rs 6.95 crore in Q3 of 2005-06 when the company had to spend about Rs 6.8 crore to settle a litigation, bringing down its PAT to Rs 18 lakh.
 
The company's consolidated revenue for the quarter surged 73 per cent to Rs 131.02 crore. "The Sasken group has had a strong year so far. As we go towards the next orbit of growth, we are cognizant of the need to have high quality management expertise to steer us there. With this perspective, we have inducted some senior people into our management team," said Chairman & CEO Rajiv Mody.
 
On a sequential basis, the profit after tax of the company for the third quarter was flat compared with Rs 11.88 crore in the previous quarter. The consolidated revenue grew 11 per cent, sequentially.
 
During the quarter under review, the company added 139 people, taking the total employee strength to 3,512 on December 31, 2006. The company also added 11 new customers during the quarter, which took the total number of its active clients to 76.
 
The company improved the revenue share from Europe to 49 per cent, compared with 39 per cent in the second quarter of 2006-07.
 
The share of North America to the consolidated revenue dropped to 25 per cent in this quarter from 32 per cent in Q2. India and APAC contributed 20 per cent and 6 per cent, respectively, to the company's consolidated revenue for the quarter.
