Having grown five times in the last decade to be an over Rs1,000-crore company, Ahmedabad-based Sai InfoSystem Ltd. (SIS) is now eyeing the Rs 5,000-crore turnover mark by 2015.

Talking about the company's plans, Sunil Kakkad, chairman and managing director, SIS said, “We have grown by 550 percent in the last decade. Taking the growth further, we are looking at a turnover target of Rs5,000 crore by 2015. Most of the growth will be in the IT products, IT retail and IT-based telecom verticals.” The company intends to achieve the target through expansion in all the verticals.

SIS, which has branched out in segments like system integration, software solutions, facility management and maintenance services and manufacturing of various hardware products like servers, desktops, laptops and networking products, will be expanding its manufacturing facilities in Himachal Pradesh. Apart from that, the company will also be setting up new units.

“We will be investing around Rs200 crore in the next 18 months in expansion of our manufacturing process, which we expect to contribute to reaching our 2015 target in the near future,” said Rajan Vasa, executive director of SIS.

While SIS manufactures 4,000 units of IT products, the company intends to double the capacity in IT products as well as telecom products. “We are also establishing development centres in special economic zones (SEZs) in Bangalore and Kandla. While the Bangalore unit will be for software content development, the Kandla unit will focus on manufacturing IT and telecom products for exports,” said Kakkad.

Headquartered in Ahmedabad, SIS reported a turnover of Rs1,167 crore turnover in financial year 2009-10. The company currently has operations in 17 states and five countries. By 2015, SIS expects to operate in at least 15 countries and 200 cities within the country.

The company presently has a team of over 700 IT professionals onboard and offers IT solutions to various government agencies, PSUs, and corporate houses across the country. However, SIS intends to create a workforce of 2,000-2,500 by 2015.
