Syniverse in talks with operators for providing roaming solutions

US-based Syniverse Technologies is in discussions with all the major Indian telecom operators to offer a solution, which will help them in assessing the roaming patterns of their mobile subscribers, besides providing a real-time troubleshooting help to the users while roaming outside India.

“We expect to bag one deal from a large Indian operator by this year end to implement one of the solution,” Syniverse Technologies Vice President-Indian subcontinent told Business Standard. Syniverse Technologies is also one of the selected companies for implementing mobile number portability (MNP) in India.

It will take about 2-3 months for implementation of the solution, after a deal is stuck, he said. Syniverse already offer these solutions in countries outside India. But this will be its first deal in the Indian market.

The company plans to offer ‘Roam Monitor’, which will provide real-time information of data usage charges while a subscriber is on roaming outside India. This will alert the subscriber to set spending or usage thresholds based on the data rates, he said. It will also reduce the threat of subscriber ‘Bill Shock’.
