According to Nitin Pai, joint general manager (marketing), Tata Elxsi, the company's own campus will come up on a three-acre land at Technopark here. The new campus, work on which has already begun, is to be implemented in phases.
"The first phase of the campus will be ready by June 2007 and will seat 500 engineers. Work on the second and third phases will begin simultaneously after the completion of the first phase," Pai added. An additional capacity for 1,500 more engineers would be made available in these phases.
The technology arm of the $22 billion Tata group operates out of the Gayatri block, Technopark, and was among the early birds to start functioning from here.
According to R Natarajan, head of the Thiruvananthapuram centre, the company plans to recruit around 500 engineers and specialists in the next 12 months.
"We aim to provide world-class environment in the new campus, right from state-of-the-art communication and development facilities, to an eco-friendly building design and fully equipped recreation facilities for engineers," he said. The recruitment process is currently on, Pai added.
Elaborating on the company's activities, Pai said: "Tata Elxsi has four divisions addressing software and hardware development, styling and mechanical design, animation and special effects and system integration. The Bangalore-based company's delivery capability is supported by state-of-the-art design centres and labs across four locations, studios in Mumbai and advanced communication facilities that help in seamless global operations, according to Pai.
