Tata Indicom, the CDMA brand of Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTSL), one of India's fastest growing telecom service providers in the country, is set to roll out its high-speed wireless broadband service-Tata Photon Plus in the Orissa market before March 2011.
With the launch of its 'wireless broadband service', the telecom service provider aims to tap the enterprise business segment and add good quality subscribers who will generate better ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) for the company.
Ashish Bhatia, chief operating officer (Orissa circle) said, “We are going to roll out our hi-speed wireless broadband service Tata Photon Plus in the Orissa market before March 2011. In the first phase, the service would be rolled out in major cities of the state like Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Sambalpur and Rourkela. Prior to the launch of this service, the company will put up some special towers and also upgrade its existing telecom towers in the state”.
“We have around 30000 customers of Tata Photon in the state and we would upgrade these customers to Tata Photon Plus”, he added.
He refused to comment on the investment plans for the wireless broadband plan.
Commenting on subscriber figures, he said, “Tata Indicom has a subscriber base of 7.3 lakh and we expect to reach a base of 7.7 lakh by the end of this fiscal.
Around 30 per cent of our subscribers in the state are rural subscribers and we have a separate rural team for deepening our presence in the rural markets of the state.”
Tata Indicom has a share of five per cent in the state's mobile services market.
The operator has a share of six per cent in the pre-paid segment and 30 per cent share in the post-paid segment.
The operator has a presence in all districts of the state except Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Boudh. It has 480 towers in the state at present and has no plans to install more mobile service towers in the near future.
Meanwhile, Tata Indicom, has announced the launch of a competitive offer that allows the new pre-paid subscribers to make free unlimited Tata World (Tata Indicom, Tata DOCOMO, Virgin and Tata walky) local calling across the Orissa circle.
