The Chennai-based software major Teledata Informatics is planning to set up a chip manufacturing facility in south India.

K Padmanabhan, managing director, Teledata, said he was currently holding discussions with the state governments of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in this regard.

"It will take three to four months to finalise the location," he said, adding that the proposed facility would involve an investment of about Rs 300 crore.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Padmanabhan said the total business offshoring unit (TBO), being set up by Teledata and its subsidiary eSys in Chandigarh, would be operational by June, this year.
