As many as 10 Indian IT companies are set to exhibit their wares at the India Pavilion during the 2011 Internet Show being held in Abu Dhabi in September, indicating the growing interest of Indian companies in West Asian region, it has been revealed.

The Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), India's largest electronics and IT trade facilitation body, said it is making efforts to enhance the participation of Indian companies in the show, which is scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi from September 27-28 this year.

ESC Regional Director Kamal Vachani said this is part of the organisation's continued efforts to assist member exporters to diversify and expand their global base.

"A much focused, impressive B2B event of its kind in West Asia, the Internet Show in Abu Dhabi is emerging as an ultimate place for business transactions. Naturally, India has a great stake in the booming West Asia, Africa, Asia and European markets, for which Abu Dhabi is the gateway," Vachani said.

"Thus the event provides the participating Indian IT companies opportunities for scouting the expanding burgeoning entire West Asian market," he added.

ESC has been participating in the Internet Show and the participating companies have reported high satisfaction. They are keen to tap this booming market and forge significant business, joint venture and marketing tie-ups with the buyers visiting the exhibition.

The IT products that would be on display at the India Pavilion would be from areas as diverse as open source software development in PHP and ROR, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Ready Shopping Cart, rental sites and CRM products for sale, ShopNetwork and MFit applications and web applications.

In addition, products will be available for social media integration, search engine marketing, social media optimisation, Web 2.0, e-commerce and payments, content management systems, information security, audit and compliance, risk assessment, SMS messaging services, iPhone app development, online media and many more innovative products and services.

"The West Asian region is one of the fastest growing IT markets in the world. High growth prevails across all segments and the market is driven by economic diversification and various e-government initiatives including finance, communications, and manufacturing. The UAE is currently spending $11.4 billion on ICT and that figure is set to rise to $14.8 billion by 2011," the ESC said in a statement.

According to the council, the Indian ICT industry looks keen to provide total IT solutions and forge business tie-ups and strategic alliances in sectors including telecommunications, utilities, tourism, financial services and real estate.

The various e-initiatives and innovative projects being undertaken there are set to bring about an e-revolution that can transform not only the ICT landscape in West Asia, but also boost ICT exports from India in a big way, it said.
