Company makes strategic management changes.
Wipro, the Bangalore-headquartered consumer care to IT major, is all set to strengthen the company’s engineering design and services (EDS) practice with the joining of Dr T S Krishnamurthy, the former senior vice president, Integrated Engineering Services of Satyam as the Head of EDS.
A former ISRO scientists Krishnamurthy (known as TSK in his circle) was instrumental to the success of Satyam’s engineering services vrtical during the hay days of the company. Wipro entered the EDS business with the acquisition of Quantech in 2006.
Meanwhile, Wipro has also announced a new vertical focussing exclusively on healthcare services sector. Rajiv Shah, who was earlier heading Wipro’s Technology Business Unit, will now head the new vertical.
“Given the tremendous opportunities and big spend that has been committed to the healthcare industry by the US government and the synergies that exist between this and parts of the services sector, we are creating a new business group Healthcare & Services,” the company said.
In run-up to its annual earnings announcement, Wipro, the Bangalore-headquartered consumer care to IT major has announced some key management changes. Part of the company’s annual restructuring exercise, this is expected to streamline the company’s operations to drive growth.
The company recently issued an internal memo to its employees to communicate about the restructuring which was signed by the Joint CEOs including Suresh Vaswani and Girish Paranjpe.
As a part of this, T K Kurien, who is now driving the company Consulting and other strategic initiatives, will be heading the Telecom Equipment, Telecom Services Provider and Media which will now be under a single umbrella. By combining these into a single business unit, the company expects to offer R&D, IT, managed services and product support offerings to the customers. P Subrahmanyam who was earlier heading the Telecom Equipment vertical will report to Kurien.
After a decade long stint as Head of Technology Infrastructure services (TIS) business, G K Prasanna has now moved on to take up a new role as the Head -Technology Business Unit.
In his new role, Prasanna will report to Girish Paranjpe. Deepak Jain who is currently the Head of Professional Services Division in Wipro Infotech will move on as the Head of TIS business in WT, and will report into Suresh Vaswani.
