RCF selects Thermax to execute Rs 353 cr energy project

Thermax will commission a 50 MW gas based co-generation plant at Thal (Maharashtra) facility of Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers (RCF) for captive power

Thermax Ltd, an energy and environment solutions provider, has received an order worth Rs 353 crore from Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (RCF) to execute an energy efficiency improvement project. Thermax will commission a 50 MW gas based co-generation plant at RCF’s facility in Thal (Maharashtra) for captive power. It will also install waste heat recovery boilers downstream of the turbines to provide required steam for process.
 
M S Unnikrishnan, MD and CEO of Thermax Limited, said, “We are glad to partner with RCF in its programme to improve energy efficiency. This order once again underlines Thermax’s expertise in gas based captive power plants for industry.”
 
The scope of supply includes two 25 MW each gas turbines and 2x100 TPH waste heat recovery boilers, besides civil works, balance of electrical, mechanical and instrumentation works. The project is to be completed in 22 months.
 
The Pune-based Thermax Limited offers integrated innovative solutions in the areas of heating, cooling, power, water and waste management, air pollution control and chemicals.
