Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board has issued an order revoking the consent given to operate Bosch Ltd’s Jaipur plant due to environmental issues. The order was issued to the Jaipur plant for alleged non-fulfilment of certain conditions with respect to wastewater treatment and reuse of the treated water. Pursuant to this order, the company has been compelled to close the operations at the plant from today.

“The management is confident that the Jaipur plant has been operating within the prescribed environmental norms and is cooperation with the authorities for an immediate relief. Due to ensuing Diwali holidays and to ensure smooth deliveries to customers, we are appealing to the government and authorities for forthwith withdrawal of the order. Further, the management is confident that the routine operations will commence soon and negative impact on the Indian automotive industry can be avoided,” said Bosch in a BSE filing.

The closure is estimated to result in production loss of approximately Rs 2.5 crore per day.
