 "Cosmo Films to set up manufacturing facility in Maharashtra")
Cosmo Films, a manufacturer of biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films, has acquired 34 acres of land, adjacent to its existing unit, at Waluj (Aurangabad, Maharashtra) for setting up a new production unit. The existing facility at Waluj has production lines for BOPP, thermal, coating and metalising.
“The company has entered into a definitive MoU for purchase of about 34 acres of industrial land adjacent to its existing manufacturing plant on 16 acres of land at Waluj, Aurangabad (Maharashtra), for setting up new production facilities in due course,” said the company in a BSE filing on October 6, 2016.
Cosmo Films is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of BOPP films, a widely accepted raw material used by the flexible packaging industry globally, with total capacity of 136,000 tonnes per annum (TPA). The company is not only the leading BOPP films exporter from India but also the world’s largest manufacturer of thermal lamination films.
Continued strong global demand for BOPP films is anticipated in the coming years and as a result the company has initiated a capacity expansion program to support it. The company is currently in process of increasing BOPP film manufacturing capacity by approximately 40 percent from 136 kilo tonne (KT) to about 200 MT by the end of FY2017 at its Karjan (Vadodara) facility with installation of a new production line.
