COVID-19 lockdown: Watermelon, cucumber farmers facing hardship in Kerala

Malappuram (Kerala), Apr 11 (ANI): Kerala's watermelon and cucumber farmers are facing severe hardship due to nationwide lockdown. Farmers said that there are no buyers in the market.One of the farmers from Kerala's Malappuram said, "On the first hand we are not getting buyers for our production, on the other hand the crop price has been decreased due to lockdown." Watermelon and cucumber comes under Zaid crops (summer crops) which are sown in the beginning of the hot season in February and March and are harvested in the month of April and May. In the wake of pandemic coronavirus, the nation is under 21- day lockdown.
