AMCA project, PM Modi in Gujarat, Indigo Airline shares, China plant explosion & more

Today, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh approved the execution model for the AMCA project, aimed at building India’s very own fifth-generation stealth fighter jet. Speaking at an event in Gandhinagar, PM Modi said if India had followed Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s advice in 1947, today’s terror incidents could have been avoided. Jio BlackRock Asset Management, a joint venture between Jio Financial Services and BlackRock, has received SEBI’s approval to start mutual fund operations in India. Shares of Indigo slipped over 3% during the day as the airline’s co-founder and promoter, Rakesh Gangwal, and his family sold a 5.7% stake in Indigo Airlines for over Rs 11,000 crore. The stake sale is part of Gangwal’s broader strategy to gradually exit the airline. A massive explosion rocked a chemical plant in eastern China today, prompting local authorities to launch a rescue operation. Reports say the plant manufactures pesticides as well as chemicals for medical use.
