The 26th Industrial India Trade Fair, known to exibit products from countries like China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt and Afganistan, has an added attraction this year - food stalls where Pakistani and Bangladeshi delicacies will be sold.
	26th IITF chairman and BNCCI member Sandip Sen said today that some 500 exhibitors will showcase their products and services including from Japan, Pakistan, Afganistan, Egypt, China and Turkey, he said.
	The fair organised by BNCCI and Indian Trade Fair Organisation will be inagurated by state industry minister Partha Chatterjee on December 27 and remain open to public till January 5.
	Sen said the fair was expected to do a business of Rs 70 crore.
	"We have tried to keep the stall charges moderate with increase of just 10 per cent on an average over 2010 when costs have risen sharply," he said.

Risks to economy will continue in 2014 due to high retail inflation and the Reserve Bank is likely to revise key policy rates upwards by up to 0.50 per cent to contain price rise, said RICS, a global body for setting standards in real estate.
	"The risk to overall economy because of the high retail inflation and revision in key policy rates will continue to remain.
	"It is likely that the RBI will revise key policy rates. Further revision by 25 to 50 basis points can be expected, as inflation control is the priority at this moment, even if the measure hinders growth in the short-term," Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) said in a release.
	It said a revision of repo rate by 0.25 per cent in October by the Reserve Bank will help in reviving the economy in the long-term.

The body of a 17-year-old boy was found from a pond at Khoshalpur village in Amta area of Howrah district today, the police said.
	Supradip Das, a class XII student, had gone missing while returning home from tuition.
	On search, his family members found his cycle beside a pond.

Ratings agency Crisil today said government will overshoot its 4.8 per cent fiscal deficit target by 0.40 per cent this fiscal and suggested state-run companies should dip into their cash reserves to narrow the gap by paying extra dividends.
	Given the current scenario, wherein the front loading of expenditure has resulted in 84.4 per cent of the budgeted fiscal deficit target being hit by November, Crisil said it expects the fiscal deficit to touch 5.2 per cent.
	"The Centre can reduce its fiscal deficit by as much as Rs 20,000 crore this fiscal by using cash reserves of public sector units," its research wing said in the note.
	It said the top 20 public sector undertakings will have a cash reserve of Rs 1,60,000 crore by March 2014 and are "comfortably placed" to pay a special dividend.
	"We estimate these companies are well placed to distribute 40 per cent of the corpus (Rs 64,000 crore) as dividend without impacting growth plans," it said.

Crisil says fiscal deficit to touch 5.2 per cent in FY14

As many as 31 children, studying in a private school in the district, were today stung by a swarm of wasps, officials said.
	The incident happened when the children, aged between three-and-half and seven, went to wash their hands after their noon-meal in the premises of the school at Vettaikaraniruppu village, Nagapattinam District Collector T Munusamy said.
	"All of a sudden, a swarm of poisonous wasps from a hive in a tree nearby attacked them," he said.
	The children fainted after the wasps stung them.
 	The school management immediately rushed the students to a primary health centre where they were given treatment.
	The children were later to taken to Nagapattinam General Hospital for examination by experts, following which they were discharged. "All the children are safe," the collector said.

Korean major Samsung plans to invest in India about Rs 350 crore within a year to ramp up its electronics production, according to government sources.
     "Electronics manufacturing policy has been attractive. Samsung has again proposed to invest about Rs 350 crore in its electronics plant. This is in addition to about its Rs 400 crore investment made for the mobile phone facility," a government official told PTI.
     The company plans to invest this amount in production of flat panel TVs and washing machines, he added.
     No comments were received from Samsung on the matter.
     Samsung has gained following a government decision in August to impose 36 per cent import duty on flat panel TVs that were brought into India as part of baggage by passengers from abroad, the source added.
     As per industry body Consumer Electronics and Appliances Manufacturers Association, about 1 million TVs were coming in as accompanied baggage in a year, which constitutes about 20 per cent of the .

	Making moderate improvements to diet and levels of physical activity, gave trial participants a better chance of losing enough weight to lower their risk of developing type 2 diabetes, said Prof Raj Bhopal, from the Unniversity's Centre for Population Health Sciences and lead author of the study.
	The study, carried out in participants homes as opposed to hospital clinics, is the first of its kind in Britain to look specifically at South Asian cultures.
	The three-year trial monitored 171 people of Indian and Pakistani background living in Scotland who were already at high risk of diabetes as shown by blood tests done at the start of the trial.

Syrian warplanes have killed more than 300 people, including 87 children, in an eight-day bombing campaign against rebel-held parts of the northern city of Aleppo, a monitor said today.
	   "From December 15 to 22, 301 people have been killed, including 87 children, 30 women and 30 rebels," said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which relies on a network of activists and witnesses on the ground to track the civil war.
	   Opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad accuse his forces of dropping explosives-filled barrels on rebel-held areas in an effort to demoralise their supporters and turn them against the insurgents.
	   A security source told AFP that the army had adopted the tactic because of a lack of ground forces, and argued the heavy civilian toll was because the rebels were in residential areas.
	   Aleppo has been split between opposition and government forces since a massive rebel assault in the summer of 2012.

West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra today asked bankers to increase the credit-deposit ratio of the state to 70 per cent by March, 2014.
	Mitra said though advances had outpaced deposits in the first half of FY 2014, bankers need to intensify their efforts to increase the credit ratio to 70 per cent from 65 per cent by the end of March 2014.
	Mitra also asked bankers to achieve a target of 12 lakh Kisan Credit Cards by March, 2014 at the state level bankers' meet review meeting.
	Bankers have issued six lakh KCCs involving an amount of Rs 3474.20 crore.
	The state government has requested the banks to speed up opening brick and mortar branches as still 849 gram panchayats of the state are yet to be brought under banking system.

Bangladesh today announced a bounty of USD 1,000 for arsonists to control violent street protests by opposition parties that have claimed 127 lives across the country in the past month.
	"Taka 1 lakh (USD 1,000) will be awarded to those who help police in arresting criminals when they try to set on fire or vandalise vehicles in Dhaka," Dhaka Metropolitan police said in a statement.
	Taka 25,000 would be paid to persons who help in arresting criminals involved in attacks with crude bombs or petrol bombs. People can tip off police on telephone, the statement said.
	The announcement came as the burn unit of the state-run Dhaka Medical College Hospital said 18 patients had succumbed to their injuries since November 26 at the facility. A total of 24 violence victims are still being treated at the hospital.

A youth sexually molested an 11- year-old girl in Depalpur town near here and also threatened her, police said today.
	The accused, Sohan Kalouta, is absconding after committing the crime yesterday. The 25-year-old lured the girl into his house and sexually abused her, they said.
	He also threatened to harm the victim if she revealed about the incident to anyone, according to the complaint filed by her family.
	However, the girl later narrated her ordeal to her parents following which a complaint was filed in Depalpur Police Station.
	A case under IPC Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act has been registered against Kalouta.

Youth sexually abuses, threatens minor girl

Securities Appellate Tribunal has disposed of an appeal filed by Reliance Industries against Sebi, after the market regulator agreed to provide certain documents to the corporate house for inspection in connection with a long-running insider trading probe.
	The case relates to investigation into suspected insider trading violations way back in 2007 and another appeal by Reliance Industries in this matter is currently being heard by SAT against Sebi's rejection to a consent settlement plea.
	In this matter, RIL had asked Sebi to furnish certain documents for inspection and it had filed a separate appeal after the regulator refused to share those documents.
	In a hearing on December 20, SAT "disposed of" this particular appeal after RIL decided not to press for the same as Sebi said it was "ready and willing to furnish copies of those eight documents".
