Chennai Super Kings’ struggle in IPL 2025 continues as they lost their fourth game of the season and second game at home, as Delhi Capitals registered a comprehensive 25-run win to stay undefeated this season. DC also jumped to the number one spot in the points table with this win, with six points from three matches.
Earlier, DC won the toss and opted to bat first. However, their start was not ideal as they lost Jake Fraser for a duck in the very first over to Khaleel Ahmed. Abhishek Porel (33) got DC back on track before losing his wicket to Ravindra Jadeja after the powerplay. Skipper Axar Patel (21) then became a victim of purple cap holder Noor Ahmad.
Sameer Rizvi (20) held the fort alongside KL Rahul for some time before losing his wicket to Khaleel Ahmed. KL Rahul (77) kept attacking from one end and completed his half-century before losing his wicket to Pathirana in the 20th over. Ashutosh Sharma (1) got himself run out the very next ball. However, Tristan Stubbs (22 not out off 11 balls) played a handy knock in the end to take DC to 183 for 6 after 20 overs.
In reply, CSK’s opening woes continued as they lost Rachin Ravindra (3) to Mukesh Kumar in the second over. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (5) also could not do much and lost his wicket to Mitchell Starc in the very next over. Devon Conway (13) also departed soon after, to Vipraj Nigam.
Shivam Dube (18) and Ravindra Jadeja (2) were the next two to depart as CSK found themselves reduced to 74 for 5. Vijay Shankar (69 not out) and MS Dhoni (30 not out) added 83 runs for the sixth wicket but could only take CSK to 158 for 5 at the end of 20 overs, as DC walked away with the win.
