The four-day Youth 20 summit 2023 under the framework of India’s G20 Presidency, started in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi on Thursday. The Y20 Summit will be graced by Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports and Nisith Pramanik, Union Minister of State (MoS) for Youth Affairs and Sports and the chief minister Yogi Adityanath. Around 150 delegates from G20 countries, guest countries and international organizations converged to discuss the five identified themes of Y20 including Future of Work: Industry 4.0, Innovation and 21st Century Skills, Peacebuilding and Reconciliation: Ushering in an Era of No War, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability a Way of Life, Shared Future: Youth in Democracy and Governance, Health, Wellbeing and Sports: Agenda for Youth.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Thursday said a total of 13 bodies, among 21 people who went missing after a massive landslide struck the Summer Hill area of Shimla earlier this week, have been recovered. Speaking to ANI, NDRF Inspector Naseef Khan said, "The rescue and search operation has been underway for 4 days. The Army, SDRF and the police are engaged in the ongoing rescue operations here. Of the 21 people missing, 13 bodies have been recovered so far."

President Murmu launches advanced stealth frigate INS Vindhyagiri in Kolkata

President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday launched 'Vindhyagiri', an advanced stealth frigate, at Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd's (GRSE) facility on the banks of Hooghly river here.

West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee were also present on the occasion.

This is the sixth of seven ships built under 'Project 17 Alpha' for the Navy.

The first five ships of the project were launched between 2019 and 2022.

US 10-year yield at highest since October, drags on shares

The U.S. 10-year treasury yield on Thursday reached its highest in 10 months, underpinned by fears that U.S. interest rates might stay higher for longer, contributing, along with China's economic woes, to world stocks languishing at five-week lows.

Benchmark 10-year yields reached 4.312% on Thursday, testing October's 4.338% a break past which would be its highest in 16 years.

"The reason behind the rise is the strong data the U.S. domestic demand. The minutes (from the Fed's July meeting, released Wednesday), feel really dated, they are talking about a gradual slowdown in the U.S. economy, but when you look at the data we are not even in a slowdown," said Samy Chaar, chief economist at Lombard Odier.

India August retail inflation expected below 7%: Economist at Motilal Oswal

India's annual retail inflation in August is expected to fall below 7 per cent after unexpectedly rising to a 15-month-high of 7.44 per cent in July, an economist at Motilal Oswal said on Thursday.
