NDTV Q3 results: Loss widens to Rs 55.48 crore due to higher expenses

Media network NDTV Ltd on Saturday reported a widening of consolidated loss to Rs 55.48 crore in the third quarter ended December 31, 2024, impacted by higher expenses. The company had posted a consolidated loss of Rs 10.16 crore in the same quarter last fiscal, NDTV said in a regulatory filing. Consolidated revenue from operations in the quarter under review stood at Rs 132.74 crore compared to Rs 97.95 crore in the year-ago period, the company said. Total expenses in the third quarter were higher at Rs 187.72 crore as compared to Rs 110.23 crore in the same period a year ago, it added. During the quarter, production expenses and cost of services were higher at Rs 54.87 crore as compared to Rs 36.78 crore in the year-ago period and employee benefits expense was also higher at Rs 42.87 crore as compared to Rs 33.88 crore in the same period a year ago. NDTV loan-repayment case: Delhi court accepts CBI's closure report

A Delhi court on Thursday accepted a closure report filed by the CBI in an alleged case of irregularities by ICICI Bank in accepting loan repayment from NDTV, saying "it appeared to be satisfactory". Special judge Shailender Malik accepted the closure report after going through the report, and the submissions made by the CBI, and the complainant in the case, who said he did not want to file any protest petition being satisfied with the investigation. "Upon going through entire closure report, documents annexed with the same coupled with submissions made by public prosecutor for CBI as well as statement given by the complainant to the effect that he is satisfied with the investigation of CBI in the present case, this court accepts the closure report...as no criminality or violation of Section 19(2) of Banking Regulation Act, 1949 has been found by any of the accused persons. Adani group stocks rallied on Thursday after Hindenburg Research, which made international waves with campaigns targeting billionaire Gautam Adani that wiped billions from market value of his group companies, founder Nate Anderson announced its shutdown. Shares of NDTV surged 9.15 per cent, Ambuja Cements jumped 3.88 per cent, Adani Green Energy rallied 3.35 per cent, Sanghi Industries climbed 3.34 per cent and Adani Power went up by 2.45 per cent on the BSE. No criminal conspiracy by ICICI officials in NDTV loan repayment case: CBI

There was no collusion, criminal conspiracy or abuse of position by officials of ICICI Bank in accepting repayment of a loan at a reduced rate of interest from promoters of NDTV Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy, the CBI has concluded in its closure report in the 2017 case. The CBI FIR registered on the basis of a complaint from Sanjay Dutt of Quantum Securities Ltd had alleged that ICICI Bank had sanctioned a loan of Rs 375 crore in 2008 against the entire 61 per cent shareholding of the promoters as collateral. The bank had allegedly accepted the repayment of the loan by reducing the interest rate from 19 per cent per annum to 9.5 per causing a wrongful loss of Rs 48 crore to the bank and corresponding gain to the promoters, it had said.
