Bhutan PM says India deserves permanent seat in UN Security Council

Thimpu, June 16 (ANI): Bhutan's Prime Minister called for India's inclusion in the UN Security Council as its permanent member as he thanked New Delhi on Sunday (June 15) for its 'unwavering' support and financial aid. Bhutan Prime Minster, Lyonchen Tshering Tobgay hosted a grand banquet for his Indian counterpart and said Indian PM Narendra Modi's first overseas visit to Bhutan, within a few weeks of his being sworn in as Prime Minister, indicates the new government's commitment to strengthen bilateral ties with its immediate neighbours.

Supporting New Delhi contention for a permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council, Tobgay called for a reform in the council and said India rightly deserved a place. He also added that the socio-economic and political landscape of Bhutan has totally transformed and attributed this achievement to India.
