Who is Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav?

Early Life and Background: Prataprao belongs to the Maratha community. He was born on 25 November 1960 in Mehkar, a town in the Buldhana district of Maharashtra, India. He completed up to the second year of a Bachelor of Arts from Shivaji College in Chikhli, Buldhana, although he did not complete his degree. He was involved in various sports like Kabaddi and cricket. He majorly spent his early life in engagement with the local community.

- Prataprao joined Shiv Sena party in 1986, and focused on strengthening the party's presence in Buldhana, which used to be dominated by the Congress party.
- In 1995, Jadhav was chosen as an MLA from the Mehkar constituency. He served as the Minister of State for Sports, Youth Welfare, and Irrigation in the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance government from 1997 to 1999. Jadhav retained his seat in the 1999 and 2004 state assembly elections.
- In 2009, he was elected as a Member of Parliament from Buldhana constituency. He emerged as a prominent figure in Maharashtra politics after he secured his seat for four consecutive terms till 2024.
Since his election to the Lok Sabha, he has held key positions such as Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology.
During the split in Shiv Sena, he aligned himself with Eknath Shinde and remained loyal to him.
