“Vidhi Dyestuffs has commissioned a new manufacturing unit at its facility in Roha. With this, the production capacity of the company will increase by 1400 metric tonnes a year. The demand for the synthetic food colours manufactured by the company is ever growing and this new development would enable the company to service this ever growing demand of its consumers worldwide,” said Vidhi Dyestuffs in a BSE filing on September 8, 2015.
The company manufactured 2275.20 metric tonne of food colours in 2014-15 as against 1905.45 metric tonnes in the previous year. The gross revenue of Vidhi Dyestuffs increase by 32 percent to Rs 189.57 crore in 2014-15 from Rs 143.14 crore in 2013-14, while PAT of up 108 percent to Rs 12.42 crores in 2014-15 compared with Rs 5.97 crores the previous year.
Vidhi Dyestuffs provides customers colour solutions in applications of food & beverage, confectionary, pharmaceuticals, feeds, cosmetics, inkjet inks and salt free colour. Over 90% of all colours manufactured by Vidhi Dyestuffs are exported globally.
Export opportunities for dyestuff industry has seen growth over the last few years, according to the company. Closure of several manufacturing plants in countries such as USA and Europe due to enforcement of strict pollution control norms has resulted in a spurt of capacity building in India, which accounts for 12 percent of the global colourant industry - out of which nearly 66 percent is exported.
As per forecast, the global natural and synthetic food colour market is predicted to grow at a CAGR of 4.5 percent during the next five years and to reach $2.5 billon by 2020. Rising consumption of processed food in India is leading to high demand for food colours. Per capita consumption of dyestuff in India is about 50 gms compared to the world average of 300 gms demonstrating a largely untapped domestic market.
