Having pocketed both the Golden Globe and the BAFTA awards, Indian composer A R Rahman, who has floored the international audience with his music in 'Slumdog Millionaire', is now hoping for the biggest one - the Oscars.
Rahman scooped the BAFTA award in the Best Music Score category for 'Slumdog', the rags-to-riches story of a Mumbai slum-dweller that bagged six other prizes, including the Best Film and the Best Director at the star-studded function here.
"It is a great feeling... It is getting better and better and let's hope for the biggest one - the Oscars," Rahman told reporters after bagging the award.
"It is a bit different. I think it is important for people to know who the composer is. People started liking the music. It is a great feeling. So, I am giving it a try to satisfy them," the musician added.
Rahman has been nominated for three awards under two categories -- for Best Original Music Score and for Best Song for "Jai Ho" and "O Saya" for 'Slumdog' at the Oscars scheduled later this month.
However, the Chennai-born musician was not the only Indian to receive the BAFTA honour as sound technician Resul Pookutty also won for the Best Sound Editing at the British Award ceremony. Resul has also been nominated at the Oscars under the same category.
