Big Synergy's Kaun Banega Crorepati which airs on Multi Screen Media's (MSM) Sony Entertainment Television from September 6 has raised the prize money to 7 crore for its 7th season. The game show which is anchored by Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan will also been seen in a new avataar as the set has undergone a change for the first time in the history of the global franchise.

The format of the show has also seen some tweaks. This season, instead of the usual one round of fastest finger first elimination, there will be three rounds now. The contestant who performs best on accuracy and speed in the three rounds will then go on to play on the hot seat.

Siddharth Basu, CMO, Big Synergy explained that the change has been brought in to make the game more competitive. Having three rounds of fastest finger first ensures that the contestants are tested properly and also makes things more interesting.”

Other tweaks in the format include the introduction of the Power Paplu as a lifeline which will allow the contestant to revive any one of the used up lifelines. The other lifelines include 50:50, Flip the question, Phone a friend and Audience Poll. Expert Advice has been removed from the list for this season.

Apart from format tweaks, the show has also seen a change in venue having shifted form Film City to Yash Raj Studios. The set has also been changed to include more colour and vibrance to the show. Sneha Rajani, senior executive vice president and business head at Sony explained, “Yash Raj has a better facility and it was more convenient for us to shoot there. We have been trying to shift the venue for the past year and it worked out for this season, hence the change.”
