The scheme is part of the marketing initiatives planned under the Visit Malaysia Year campaign to attract 4 lakh tourist arrivals from India."The VMY Passport programme offers discount vouchers for over 100 products and services as well as preferential treatment at sight-seeing attractions. The Visit Malaysia Year 2007 campaign celebrates 50 years of our independence," Malaysia's Tourism Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, said at the launch in Mumbai.
