All the action in the Indian Premier League may have shifted to South Africa but that is no deterrent for brands who want to cash in on its popularity — especially those looking to boost their sales through merchandising.
Personalised Knight Rider jerseys
Brands like Nike, Reebok, Puma and Adidas are the official sponsors of the teams and are stocking up on IPL-related stuff in a big way. For instance, Reebok, which is the official merchandise sponsor for four teams, including Shah Rukh Khan’s Knight Riders, has launched personalised jerseys in association with Myntra. You can select the jersey and personalise it with your name and choice of number. A personalised jersey costs around Rs 1,000 while a normal team jersey will cost you anywhere between Rs 400-800.
Last season’s DVDs
A Delhi Daredevil team jersey is priced around Rs 1,299, a cap would cost you Rs 499 while a polo t-shirt is yours for Rs 849. Similarly, a Chennai Super Kings jersey starts from Rs 300 per pick and caps are priced at Rs 150 each. But it’s not only about jerseys and caps as this time around, you can also buy DVDs of the last season. If you are a fan of Rajasthan Royals, you can get your hands on the maiden title winning DVD and relive all those nail-biting moments. The Jaipur-based team has tied up with Shemaroo for their official DVD.
King’s XI lassi glasses...
King’s XI Punjab have lassi glasses, mugs, badges and special autographed merchandise as well. A lassi glass comes for Rs 99, while mugs and badges are priced at Rs 225. Besides this, Puma has launched special Rajasthan Royals flipflops and sandals available at around Rs 500.
... and autographed memorabilia
Autographed merchandise is something which most of the teams have added to their collection. Like the Deccan Chargers who offer you a miniature autographed bat by Adam Gilchrist for Rs 500. Similarly, the King’s XI have a collection of items like mugs, and badges signed by the likes of Yuvraj Singh and Brett Lee. The colour might be missing from the IPL this year but fans can do their bit by donning their team’s merchandise and offer their support.
