Here's a ground reality: You may not pay a great deal of attention to what's beneath your feet, but truth be told, the difference it can make to a space is underestimated. Here are some flooring options "" designs for home floors, for office spaces, retail, luxury and play areas that you can use.

Marble has been a favourite with Indian home owners for a long time. The wonder of this material lies in the fact that it can make a space look sophisticated yet simple, warm or cool, elegant or rustic "" all quite effortlessly.

Now, SVIL Mines introduces exclusive marble boutiques called Cafe Floriana, a concept of branded marble retailing, which is in business in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata.

Floriana marble comes cut to size, pre-polished, calibrated and ready to lay, in three different variants of product range: There're the big slabs (in sizes as big as 3x2 mt), marble in a tile format (of 300 x 300mm, 450mm x 450mm and 600mm x 600mm).

And you can also check out Convinio, thin natural marble combined with other materials like glass, steel and aluminum honeycomb, for applications like wall partitions, external and internal wall cladding, modular kitchen tops, modular floating floors.

Laminates and zero maintenance ideas

If you are looking at other materials, check out Berry Floor presents HydroPlus, chic water-resistant laminate, ideal for the living room. This feature is available in wooden flooring with resistance to moisture and lifetime durability... at the same time, it looks good. It's creak-free and low on maintenance.

On the other hand, for a high performance, no-nonsense floor finish, try Flotex by Bonar floors. There is a classic range of floorcoverings in sheet and tile format, and inspiring new Flotex HD and Flotex Sottsass Collections. There are colourful patterns: squares, lines, checks, bubbles, flowers...

You can also opt for more toned-down shades of brown for official designer spaces. Maintainence is a non-issue here as dirt can be easily removed through ordinary vacuuming. In the vinyl range, Polyflor presents a collection inspired by nature, comprising 14 realistic timber designs.
