The company said a low temperature degreasing chemical was developed for the ACC line; the ACC and PCC oven nozzles were modified to optimise the use of HSD and hot water circulation system in the paint shop was modified, which reduced HSD consumption.

To reduce power consumption the company installed variable speed drives in the blowers in the BIW shop; it used portable compressors in the paint shop during colour change and it relocated the chiller plant outside the paint shop.

Tata Motors, which started its Dharwad operations in March 2012, produces the Ace Zip, India's first mini truck, at the plant. The plant also produces light and intermediate commercial vehicle chassis.

The plant, which is ISO 14001:2004, ISO 50001:2011, TS 16949:2009 certified, also won awards such as Platinum Rating by Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), Golden Peacock for Environment Management in 2014, and Karnataka State Safety Award.
