Toyota Kirloskar Motor inaugurated a ‘driver training’ programme and a health check-up camp at the Delhi international airport in partnership with GMR and Medanta hospital.

The initiative was launched to engage and educate airport taxi drivers on traffic safety challenges and the critical importance of making Indian roads safer with a more responsible approach.

An interactive audio visual training session was conducted by experts from the Institute of Road Traffic Education for the airport taxi drivers. The training focused on key traffic safety challenges like lane discipline, impact of drunk driving, traffic rules and guidelines apart from other basic road safety aspects.

“As safety leaders in the automobile industry, we are happy to undertake this programme,” said Naomi Ishii, managing director, Toyota Kirloskar. “We sincerely acknowledge the whole hearted support from GMR, Medanta Hospital and Essilor Vision Foundation in our successful endeavour in undertaking this initiative.”

Last year, a total of 8,085 road accidents and average of four deaths per day were reported in Delhi. “Through this initiative we aim at creating a strong road safety sense amongst the drivers, and encourage them to adopt safer driving practices,” added Ishii. “With this awareness drive we would like to give the right message to airport drivers as well as the general public to ensure that our roads are much safer in the near future.”
