Four contractual workers burnt to death and three others were seriously injured in a cylinder blast in the workers colony of Bhusan Steel Limited here this morning.
While three were charred to death on the spot and the fourth one died at SCB medical college, police sources said.The condition of the injured with severe burn injuries is stated to be serious. All the workers belong to Jharkhand and were employed by a private firm called RS Engineering which is engaged by L & T, the contractors of the steel project being built by Bhusan Steel. at Meramundali.
According to sources, these seven workers were living in a hut inside the Bhusan plant complex. Early this morning, they were preparing food by a small five Kg capacity gas cylinder when it accidentally burst. By the time fire tenders put out the fire many huts were gutted.
