4th generation Honda City sells over two lakh units in 32 months

Japanese car major Honda on Wednesday said it has crossed the two-lakh milestone for its fourth generation City in 32 months, making it the fastest selling mid-size sedan in the country.

With this, the cumulative sales of City crossed 6.3 lakh, the company said in a statement, adding the since its launch in January 2014, the new City grossed 2,00,098 units sales as of end-August.

Honda rolled out City first in January 1998 in the country, and since then it has gone on to become the largest selling mid-size sedan with over 6.3 lakh customers.

Talking about the success of the City, Honda Cars India president & chief executive Yoichiro Ueno said the City has been the most crucial part of Honda's success in the country by cumulatively bringing in more than 6.3 lakh customers. Each generation of the City has brought in new technologies offering new value to customers.

Honda Cars India, set up in December 1995, has two manufacturing facilities in Greater Noida in UP, and Tapukara in Alwar district of Rajasthan.

The Japanese major produces and sells seven models in the country — the Brio, Jazz, Amaze, Mobilio, City, BR-V and CR-V thorugh its 309 dealers in 197 cities.
