Accenture tops the list of the most sought-after companies among professionals in India. Hewlett Packard (HP), Oracle, IBM and Microsoft are the others in the top five companies that are most sought after, according to a study by Linkedin.

According to the LinkedIn Most InDemand Employers, a set of ranking for the most sought-after companies on LinkedIn, it is the technology sector that tops the list in terms of the sector, that attracts the maximum interest.

The InDemand Employer rankings were powered by Talent Brand Index, a new, free service for LinkedIn’s Talent Solutions customers that allows them to measure and benchmark the strength of their employer brand and offers new insights into how they can improve their ability to attract top talent.

Irfan Abdulla, director - talent solutions, LinkedIn India said, “Talent remains the one distinctive asset that companies must build and nurture to retain their competitive edge. LinkedIn’s Talent Brand Index addresses this need and helps companies devise campaigns that help them become an employer of choice to the potential talent pool. The three Indian companies that feature in the top 10 list of most InDemand Employers - Bharti Airtel, Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services - are testimony to the increased importance of developing and maintaining employer brand by Indian corporates.”

Globally too its was the tech industry that is attracting employee attention. Google, Apple, Microsoft, Facebook and Unilever were the top five InDemand Employers. Globally, a few interesting insights came out on what makes a desirable and sought after employer. Software was the most represented industry on the list, and Google topped several categories including our global rankings. Consumer powerhouses like Coca Cola and Nike ranked highly on strong consumer brands, but so did leading professional services firms like McKinsey & Company and B2B companies like GE. Being a bigger company isn’t necessarily better.

"The rankings are unique as its based on actual actions of over 175 million professionals on LinkedIn. Last year, LinkedIn was home to over 15 billion interactions between professionals and companies. We cross-referenced our data with thousands of survey responses to pinpoint the specific activities that best indicate familiarity and interest in working for a company like connecting with employees, viewing employee profiles, visiting Company and Career Pages, and following companies," said Michael Pi in his blog on LinkedIn.
