Kumar takes over the charge from M T Krishna Babu, chairman of Vizag Port Trust who was entrusted with the additional charge of KoPT since March, 2016.
In a statement, KoPT said that Kumar, a 1993 batch IRSEE officer, was the chief electrical engineer in Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation Ltd. and was looking after the World Bank funded MUTP Project.
In his previous stints, Kumar has been the secretary at Central Railway and gained multi-dimensional experience in general administration.
Kumar did his BE in Electrical Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering and obtained PGDBA in marketing from Symbiosis Institute, Pune. Later, he attended training programme on Management in ICLIF, Malaysia and INSEAD, Singapore.
