Ahmedabad-based economic development agency Cluster Pulse, founded by Jagat Shah has organised an SME food delegation from India to the US with support from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Shah said that about 20 million tonnes of food grains are wasted in India every year owing to poor storage and warehousing facilities.A few thousand tonnes of fruits and vegetables too get rotten due to ack of cold storage & transport infrastructure.
The delegation comprising companies like Gajanand Foods, Tapi Food Products, Aura Refoils, Ambika Solvex Ltd, Eskay Group, Octagon Communications would visit the US between June 7 to 13 to attend the FMI Connect Food Show and Knowledge seminars at Chicago followed by food technology meetings in Washington DC and New York.
The delegation will be working towards giving a boost to the Indian food industry by encouraging more bilateral trade between the two nations in the food industry domain.
The delegation represents all major sectors of food industry right from the export intensive spice industry to the snack food and confectionary sector.
It aims to build long term trade relations between the two nations in the food sector by promoting investment opportunities in India, joint venture opportunities and export and import of various food products.
FMI Connect is an annual retail event pertaining to the food industry that brings retailers ranging from convenience stores to national retailers, gourmet shops and online retailers under one roof.
The 2015 FMI Connect will see the participation of more than 700 exhibitors ranging from perishable, frozen foods to health and wellness and retail technology.
