Airtel has announced new convenience measures for all its customers in Andhra Pradesh. Airtel customers would now have the convenience to know and pay their utility bills through the Airtel's mobile service.

To begin with, this service has been launched in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and will subsequently be rolled out in other parts of the state.

Airtel has tied up with eSeva, a state government organisation under the department of information, technology and communications.

The launch of the service would facilitate Airtel customers to get information on various utility services provided by the state government departments and also enable them to pay their utility bills through their mobile phones.

The tie-up, in association with NetXcell Limited, the technology partner, makes available utility services like payment of electricity bills, water and sewerage bills, telephone bills, property and sales tax.

K Srinivas, CEO of Bharti Cellular, Andhra Pradesh, said "The Airtel eSeva tie-up is a step to provide easy access and payment convenience of utility services for customers of Andhra Pradesh at their doorsteps."

Announcing the tie-up, R P Sisodia, director of eSeva, said, "eSeva has always been in the forefront in providing value-added services to the citizens of Andhra Pradesh. This service from the government will provide greater convenience and comfort to the people and make their day-to-day life simpler. eSeva looks forward to more such fruitful associations with Airtel in future."

These e-Seva services on Airtel mobiles will be rolled out in two phases.

In the first phase, information like any utility bill amount payable, payment due dates etc will be made available to the mobile customers through SMS. Customers can get the information on any of their utility bills by sending an SMS message to eSeva from anywhere in the state.

In the next phase, the customer can obtain the details of the utility services and make the payment of the chosen utility service through the mobile itself, through an SMS message and IVR application.
